“I like books with pictures, so I made my own."
Author Angel Halo Chang has begun her Kickstarter to fund her official children’s book campaign.
Chang was inspired to create her series of books after coming across #The100DayProject – a commitment to practicing creativity for 100 days. As a lover of children’s books, she decided to create her own, combining her interest in illustration and teaching. 120 days later, Chang created four books.
“I like books with pictures, so I made my own,” Chang says. “I’ve always thought of myself as a creative person, but I lacked formal skills training. So when Ididn’t fit the qualifications for a creative job, I made my own role: Head of Storytelling.”
Today, 1 June, her first official children’s book collection is being shared with Kickstarter.
The author is 1st generation Chinese-American and was crowned Miss Congeniality in Miss Asian America Pageant 2009. She is the daughter of a veteran Chinese School teacher and was also a former Pre-Kindergarten teacher.
Siris the Rhino, Chang’s first book, features a green rhino whose family struggles to see clearly. The story was inspired by Chang’s own life experience of growing up with poor eye vision.
Her second book, Wedding Planning Galore, revolves around a bride’s plan for an elaborate wedding until it hits her that the marriage is more important than the wedding itself.
Chang’s fourth book, Today’s Lesson, personifies President Trump’s behaviours as one of her Pre-K students and highlights the importance of teaching respect at an early age.
The Moose, The Moose, Chang’s final book, tells the story about an unaware moose in the wild.
