BREAKING: At least 19 dead in knife attack outside Tokyo, Japan

At least 19 people have been killed following a knife attack in Sagamihara, just outside Tokyo, Japan.

Kyodo News Agency has reported that 19 people were killed and the BBC has reported that another 45 people were injured in the attack. Four of the injured are said to be in a serious condition.

A knife-wielding man attacked a facility for the disabled before turning himself in.

Local witnesses saw a man dressed in black clothing, armed with a weapon in the grounds of the Tskuri Yamayuri Garden..

Police have arrested the 26-year-old man who is believed to be a former member of staff. Details about the motive behind the attacks have not been released.

In May, Japanese pop star Mayu Tomita was stabbed dozens of times by a fan after she rejected his gift. 27 year old Tomohori Iwazaki was arrested.
