Avengers’ Claudia Kim (Soo Hyun) is set to play along side Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba in a new Stephen King movie.

Kim’s agency announced that she will be playing the main female protagonist in King’s ‘Dark Tower’. Filming begins this year and will premier on 17 July 2017.

The actress confirmed the news via SNS (a Korean social media app) and thanked her fans for their support.

“I’m finally able to tell you this news officially. Thank you for always supporting me.”

Kim is known in the west for her role in Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron, where Kim played Dr. Helen Cho. She is also known for her role in the Netflix TV show Marco Polo.

Allkpop reports that 23 hours after filming Korean drama Monster, Kim boarded a plane to South Africa’s ape Town to begin filming for the new film.

It’s fantastic to see Hollywood representing east Asians in non-stereotypical roles. Earlier this month, 70 east Asians were invited to join the Oscars’ Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Whilst it was only a small step, it was certainly a step in the right direction.
