BTS agency BIGHIT MUSIC has reported legal action against a suspected ticket scalper who allegedly earned more than 2 billion won by reselling concert tickets at heavily inflated prices.
The agency shared the update in a notice on Sept. 28 outlining its legal proceedings during the third quarter of 2026 against individuals accused of infringing BTS’ rights.
According to BIGHIT MUSIC, the suspect allegedly used illegal automated programmes and other people’s identities to purchase concert tickets before reselling them at prices several times higher than their original value.

The suspect was recently detained and referred to prosecutors on charges of obstruction of business and violations of South Korea’s Public Performance Act.
“We have been involved in the case since the investigation began and have actively cooperated with law enforcement authorities, including by submitting a petition calling for strict punishment,” BIGHIT MUSIC said.
“We will continue to make every effort to eradicate such practices and protect the integrity of the live entertainment market.”
BIGHIT warns against BTS defamation
The agency also detailed its ongoing legal action against individuals accused of posting defamatory, insulting or sexually harassing content about BTS.
BIGHIT MUSIC said there had recently been an increase in defamatory posts targeting the artists on Threads, X, formerly known as Twitter, Instagram and anonymous online communities based outside South Korea.

“We continue to make every effort to identify those responsible for posting insulting or defamatory content about the artists and would like to emphasize that the use of such platforms does not exempt individuals from criminal liability,” the agency said.
The agency said individuals accused of posting defamatory or insulting content about BTS on Threads, DC Inside and Naver News had recently faced legal consequences. Some received fines through summary proceedings, while other cases proceeded through court hearings.
“We will continue our efforts to ensure that those responsible face appropriate penalties, however long the legal process may take,” BIGHIT MUSIC said.
Agency targets false rumours
BIGHIT MUSIC said it was also pursuing cases involving the promotion or spread of unfounded rumours about BTS’ albums, performances and other content.
The agency said the dissemination of fabricated news, as well as the repeated and systematic posting of false information across multiple online communities, constitutes an infringement of the artists’ rights and may be subject to criminal penalties.
“We actively track those responsible and gather relevant evidence through our real-time evidence collection and monitoring systems,” BIGHIT MUSIC said.

“We maintain a zero-tolerance policy and will not extend leniency to suspects apprehended in the course of investigations following criminal complaints.”
Complaints filed across online platforms
During the third quarter, BIGHIT MUSIC said it had continued filing criminal complaints against individuals responsible for malicious posts about BTS across domestic and international platforms.
The agency listed online communities including TheQoo, Instiz, Naver, Daum communities such as Women’s Generation, Jjukbbang and SoulDresser, Nate, Dmitory, DC Inside forums focused on BTS, male celebrities and domestic entertainment, as well as Ilbe and FM Korea.

It also cited music-streaming platforms including Melon, Bugs Music and Genie Music, along with global services such as Threads, X, Instagram, YouTube and Telegram.
BIGHIT MUSIC did not identify the suspected scalper or the other individuals involved in the cases.
