Her chart-topping anthem “Golden“ is up for International Song of the Year, while the vocal trio of EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami earned a spot in the International Group of the Year category. The news follows a massive week for EJAE, as “Golden” also picked up an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.
A Battle of the Hits
The nomination puts EJAE in direct competition with Rosé of BLACKPINK. Rosé’s duet with Bruno Mars, “APT.,” is also nominated for International Song of the Year. Both tracks were produced under the umbrella of The Black Label, meaning the powerhouse South Korean agency will be facing off against itself on one of the world’s biggest stages.

“Golden” has already proven to be a juggernaut on the global charts. The track held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks and recently won a Golden Globe. Industry experts believe the song’s success is a major factor in the BRITs’ decision to recognize a fictional group in the International Group category.
Breaking Barriers in the UK
While South Korean acts like BTS and BLACKPINK have received BRIT nominations in the past, none have ever taken home a trophy. EJAE’s double nomination suggests a growing appetite for K-pop within the British music industry, which relies on votes from over 1,000 broadcasters, journalists, and record executives.
The soundtrack for KPop Demon Hunters was produced by Teddy, the mastermind behind The Black Label. The project also features other popular tracks like “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop,” but “Golden” remains the flagship hit that has elevated EJAE to international stardom.
The 46th annual BRIT Awards will air live from London on February 28. Fans are eager to see if this will be the year a South Korean artist finally makes it to the winner’s podium.
