Lucy Liu to Receive Artistic Achievement Award at Philadelphia Film Festival

The actress will be honored for her "emotionally layered performance" in the film 'Rosemead,' a psychological drama about a mother protecting her son.

The Philadelphia Film Society has announced that the actress Lucy Liu will be the recipient of the Artistic Achievement Award at the thirty-fourth Philadelphia Film Festival. Liu is being recognized for her leading role in the forthcoming film Rosemead.”

The festival, which runs from October 16 to 26, will screen “Rosemead” on Tuesday, October 21. Following the showing, the award will be presented to Liu by Artistic Director Michael Lerman.

A New Psychological Drama

In the film “Rosemead,” Liu portrays an ailing woman who discovers that her teenage son has developed “violent obsessions.” She is then faced with the difficult task of taking action “to protect him, and potentially other people.” The film is described as a psychological thriller that will be released theatrically by Vertical this December.

Andrew Greenblatt, CEO and Executive Director of the Philadelphia Film Society, emphasized the distinction of the honor. “The Artistic Achievement Award recognizes a powerful work of a filmmaker, actor, or industry professional on a new film premiering in the Philadelphia Film Festival that simply cannot be ignored,” he said. “We are proud to honor Lucy Liu with the Artistic Achievement Award for her exceptional performance in Rosemead.”
