Global superstar Lisa of BLACKPINK is reportedly preparing for a high-profile turn in her second major acting role. The singer is said to have joined the cast of the upcoming Netflix Korean action film, ‘Extraction: Taigo,’ a spin-off that expands the universe of the successful franchise led by Chris Hemsworth.

The news, initially reported by the Korean outlet Naver and entertainment page @PopCrave, has generated intense anticipation, with fans predicting that Lisa’s powerful stage presence and charisma will translate into a standout performance on screen.

A Star-Studded Action Blockbuster

‘Extraction: Taigo’ is set to be directed by Lee Sang-yong, known for his work on the acclaimed action films ‘The Outlaws 2’ and ‘The Outlaws 3.’ The film will star action heavyweight Ma Dong-seok (also known as Don Lee) and Lee Jin-wook.

Production is slated to begin in mid-October 2025, following the Chuseok holiday, with filming expected to conclude by mid-January 2026.

Plot and Production Details

The film is produced by Big Punch Pictures, B&C, and Nova Film, with the screenplay written by Cha Woo-jin. Ma Dong-seok is also involved in the project’s development, contributing to the story and serving as a producer through his company, Big Punch Pictures.

While plot specifics are being closely guarded, reports suggest Ma Dong-seok will portray Taigo, a mercenary tasked with rescuing a kidnapped colleague. Lee Jin-wook is rumored to play a rival or antagonist, adding dramatic tension to the story.

‘Extraction: Taigo’ is designed as a standalone Korean story. Although it exists within the same universe as the original ‘Extraction’ films, Chris Hemsworth’s character, Tyler Rake, is not expected to appear. The project is part of Netflix’s ongoing strategy to globalize the franchise through locally produced content and the immense star power of Asian artists.

Lisa’s Growing Film Career

The casting news comes shortly after Lisa’s acclaimed acting debut in Season 3 of HBO’s hit series, ‘The White Lotus.’ It also follows her move to solidify her Hollywood footing by signing with the major U.S. talent agency WME for film and television representation.

Lisa, one of the world’s biggest pop stars, founded her own management label, LLOUD, last year to manage her solo activities across music and and entertainment. Her role in ‘Extraction: Taigo’ is seen as a major step in her burgeoning acting career, with fans eagerly awaiting official confirmation from Netflix.
