The ubiquitous and charming Labubu, a furry character that has become a global pop culture sensation, is now making its way into the world of luxury goods. French bag company Moynat has partnered with artist Kasing Lung, the creator of the popular plushie, for a new line of Labubu-themed bags. To lend a significant touch of star power to the collection, Moynat has enlisted Oscar-winning actors Michelle Yeoh and Tony Leung as ambassadors.

In social media posts, Moynat described the collection as “The limited-edition collection celebrates Kasing Lung work featuring Labubu, Zimomo and King Mon with Moynat’s signature M canvas.” The collection, which goes on sale on October 11, features Labubu emblazoned on Moynat’s bags.

The demand for Labubu, a creature inspired by Nordic folklore, has skyrocketed over the past year. Pop Mart, the company that sells the toys, reports that sales now surpass 10 million units a day, with the brand achieving record sales this month. The toys, which were once the purview of collectors and content creators, have become a mainstream sensation, appearing everywhere from the U.S. Open with Naomi Osaka to tours with pop superstar Lisa of BLACKPINK.

A Global Pop Culture Moment

The collaboration between Moynat and Lung marks the first time his “The Monsters” property has partnered with a Western luxury brand. This capsule collection will feature Labubu’s siblings, Zimomo and King Mon, on monogrammed totes and mini-trunks, while Labubu itself will appear exclusively on smaller leather goods and bag charms. The collection will debut in Shanghai on October 11 and then embark on a worldwide tour, with stops in Paris, Taipei, and Hong Kong before landing in the United States in early 2025.
