Lana Condor, Ross Butler, Sung Kang Rom-Com ‘Worth the Wait’ Lands Exclusively on Tubi This May

Tubi has just announced that their new original film, Worth the Wait, is hitting the streaming service on Friday, May 23rd. This rom-com boasts a fantastic ensemble cast, including Lana Condor (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before), Andrew Koji (Black Doves), Ross Butler (13 Reasons Why), Sung Kang (Fast & Furious), and Elodie Yung (The Cleaning Lady).

Directed by Tom Shu-Yu Lin (Yen and Ai-Lee, The Garden of Evening Mists), Worth the Wait sounds like it’s aiming for that interconnected stories feel, similar to the beloved holiday classic Love Actually. The official word is that the film focuses on Asian-American strangers whose lives fatefully intertwine as they navigate budding love, confront profound loss and encounter old flames. Sounds like we’re in for a rollercoaster of emotions!

Tubi seems pretty stoked about this one, especially since it’s their first Asian American original film, dropping right in time for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Samuel Harowitz, Tubi’s SVP of content acquisitions and partnerships, had this to say:

“Worth the Wait is a compelling multigenerational rom-com that highlights the lives of a group of strangers as they explore relationships, joy, life-changing experiences, love, family and loss. We’re very excited to bring Dan and Rachel’s personal story to Tubi and our audiences, especially as it reflects the diversity of our culture and marks our first inclusive AAPI Tubi original film.”

Director Tom Shu-Yu Lin also shared his enthusiasm:

“We had such a great time making the picture. I’m so excited that Worth the Wait is going to be available to Tubi audiences who can easily come and enjoy what we’ve proudly made.”

The movie also stars Karena Lam, making her U.S. and English-language debut, alongside Osric Chau, Ali Fumiko Whitney, Ricky He, Kheng Hua Tan, and Yu-Beng Lim, rounding out a seriously talented cast.

Worth the Wait is produced by a bunch of companies, and the story comes from Dan Mark, Rachel Tan, and Roberto Girault, with the screenplay penned by Maggie Hartmans.

So, mark your calendars for May 23rd if you’re looking for a potentially sweet and moving rom-com with a strong cast and a focus on Asian American experiences.
