Simu Liu, star of Marvel’s Shang-Chi has launched a scathing attack on President Trump’s proposed tax plan. In a recent TikTok video, Liu expressed his concern that the plan would disproportionately benefit high-income earners like himself, at the expense of the middle class.

“I read the new administration’s new tax plan, and it looks like I get a tax cut,” Liu explained. “I guess I just wanted to say that I don’t need a tax cut. I’m happy to pay taxes… I actually believe that people like me should probably pay more taxes.”

Liu’s comments highlight a growing unease among many Americans about the nation’s widening wealth gap. President Trump’s plan, which seeks to extend the 2017 tax overhaul, has been criticized for favoring corporations and the wealthy while offering little relief to those struggling to make ends meet.

The actor went on to express his bewilderment at the political landscape in the United States. “I’m just so confused,” he stated, “because you have so much of the American population who voted for a President that so clearly does not act in their best interest.”

Liu’s remarks add to the chorus of voices questioning the fairness and efficacy of President Trump’s economic policies. Whether his message will resonate with lawmakers or the wider public remains to be seen. However, his willingness to speak out against a system that benefits him personally is a refreshing change of pace in an often self-serving political arena.
