Fans of Justin H. Min are about to see him tackle a whole new challenge in the musical time-travel romance, The Greatest Hits. Ditching his Umbrella Academy superpowers, Min steps into the role of David, a potential new love interest for the heartbroken Harriet (Lucy Boynton).

Harriet (Boynton) is a music lover still heartbroken over the loss of her boyfriend. But things get weird when she discovers that certain songs literally pull her back in time to moments they shared. While reliving those cherished memories sounds fun, it also means she’s stuck in the past and unable to move on. Can she change what happened, or will her time-hopping ways interfere with a blossoming new love interest, David (Min)?

The Greatest Hits is packed with nostalgic tunes from Nelly Furtado, The Cure, Beach House, Roxy Music, and more. Songs become Harriet’s personal time machines, and the soundtrack is shaping up to be a double-vinyl treat!

Writer/director Ned Benson sees music as deeply personal. He was inspired by how certain songs can act as portals, transporting us back to specific moments in our lives with vivid clarity. The Greatest Hits explores these emotional connections, weaving a narrative that examines love, loss, and the challenge of letting go.

“Music has always been such a nostalgia machine for me,” Benson says. “I think that I’m really affected by music, and it really can take me back to so many specific moments in my life.” He was especially impacted by reading Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain by Oliver Sacks, which discusses music’s effect on the brain.

Benson further elaborated on the film’s concept: “And I just thought about music as a time machine and how it related to certain relationships in my life, and that was the genesis of the story.”
