Keanu Reeves isn’t just a talented actor, he consistently proves he’s also a genuinely kind person.  Countless stories circulate about his thoughtfulness – from giving up his seat on the subway to donating significant portions of his earnings to charity.  His heartwarming interaction with an elderly fan is another shining example.

A Reddit user shared a heartwarming story about their encounter with Keanu Reeves. The user’s uncle, while on a business trip to LA, happened to be dining at a fancy restaurant when he spotted the actor. The uncle knew his 80-year-old mother, Agnes, was a huge Keanu Reeves fan. After a stroke left her mostly housebound for the past decade, movies became her main source of entertainment and companionship.

Agnes found particular comfort in Keanu’s films, which she’d seen countless times, from his comedic turns in Bill & Ted to his action-packed role in The Matrix.  The uncle felt compelled to share Agnes’s appreciation with Keanu:

My grandmother had a crush on Keanu Reeves because he reminded her of my grandfather when he was young. Saw all his stuff, from Bill and Ted to the Matrix. She had a stroke in her early 70s and was pretty much housebound for the last 10 years of her life, so watching movies was her main hobby, and became almost like friends to her because she so rarely got to see any of her own. Not too long after the Matrix came out my uncle was in LA for business and was eating at a really swanky restaurant when Keanu came in with a woman. When he finished his meal my uncle came up to their table and said “I don’t usually do this, but I just wanted you to know that my 80-year-old mother loves you and has seen all of your movies. You remind her of my dad.” He said Keanu asked if he had a cell phone on him and when he confirmed that he did, he said “Give her a call, I want to talk to her.” He spoke with my grandmother for several minutes and it absolutely made her year. She was so isolated and his genuine kindness to her and interest in her showed what a truly amazing man he is.

Touched by the story, Keanu didn’t hesitate to reach out.  He asked the uncle, “Does your mother have a cell phone?  Give her a call, I want to talk to her.”  The man dialled his phone, and Keanu spent several minutes on the call with the elderly woman. The Reddit user described the experience’s impact: “It absolutely made her year.  She felt isolated, and his genuine kindness and interest in her showed what a truly amazing man he is.”
