The critically acclaimed series Beef could return for a second season, despite originally being conceived as a limited series. According to an article on Deadline, creator Lee Sung Jin is reportedly considering Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny to play two feuding couples in a new storyline.
It is important to note that a second season of Beef has not been officially confirmed by Netflix or A24. While no deals are currently in place, sources suggest that scripts for a potential second season have been submitted. There are rumors that Netflix and A24 are keen on moving into production as early as late summer or fall.
The original Beef has been widely recognized during the current awards season. At the Primetime Emmys, it won Outstanding Limited Series or Anthology Series, alongside acting awards for Ali Wong and Steven Yeun. Lee Sung Jin also received recognition for his writing and directing.

Beef achieved a historic victory at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards, marking a significant milestone for Asian American representation in the entertainment industry. Winning the award for Best Television Limited Series, Beef became the first series created by and starring Asian Americans to win in this category. Wong and Yeun won Best Actress and Best Actor respectively.
Wong was the first actress of Asian descent to win in her category whilst Yeun was the second in his, after Darren Criss in 2019.
Young Mazino, whose performance as Paul Cho in Beef earned him an Emmy nomination, was recently cast as Jessie in the upcoming second season of HBO’s The Last of Us.
