Simu Liu is set to be Old Spice’s first Canadian ambassador

Kim’s Convenience star Simu Liu is going to be Old Spice’s first Canadian ambassador.

In an Instagram post, the Chinese-born Canadian actor announced the news with a gif of what seems to be an upcoming advert for the male grooming company.

“To keep my body smelling manly and fresh, I use soap with REAL ingredients. (Results may vary; chiseled body not guaranteed 😉),” Liu wrote in the caption. “So excited for this collaboration with @OldSpice as their first Canadian ambassador! Old Spice is renowned for its short viral adverts featuring toned men over exaggerating the benefits of the company’s shower gel or deodorant.

Liu joins Old Spice’s advert roster of stars including Isaiah Mustafa, Terry Crews and NFL stars Ray Lewis, Greg Jennings and Wes Welker.

Mustafa’s Old Spice ‘Response Campaign’ was viewed 5.9 million times, beating President Obama’s 2008 victory speech.

In other news, Liu recently featured alongside his Kim’s Convenience costars in a discussion panel about Asian American representation.
