ABC is ordering a Chinese-American comedy titled Lazy Rich Asians.

As reported by THR, ABC is ordering Lazy Rich Asians – a Chinese-American comedy, written by Emmy winner Jessica Gao.

Gao won the Emmy for the ‘Pickle Rick’ episode of Rick And Morty. She will also exec produce with Brian Grazer, Francie Calfo and the company’s TV president Samie Falvey.

Lazy Rich Asians (working title) is a single-camera comedy centring around Janet Zhao – a first generation Chinese-American woman. When Zhao’s grandmother passes away, she inherits a wealthy sum as well as becoming the new matriarch of her exhausting family.

The potential series draws on the success achieved by Crazy Rich Asians, which was the top grossing comedy in 10 years.

In related news, Ronny Chieng recently slammed People Magazine for misidentifying the cast of Crazy Rich Asians.
