The British popstar performed Whitney Houston’s 'I Will Always Love You'
British popstar Jessie J has won Chinese singing talent show SINGER.
Jessie J, known for hits such as ‘Price Tag’ and ‘Domino’, has won Chinese talent show SINGER, China’s version of The X Factor.
In a post on Instagram, the British singer confirmed she had won the competition after being asked to take part last year, “performing alongside the biggest established singers / artists across Asia”.
Describing her participation as an “honour”, Jessie J revealed that she actually is not very competitive.
“I’m probably the least competitive person I know,” she wrote. “I said yes because I LOVE to do the unexpected and I LOVE to represent the UK and singing everywhere I go. I LOVE to sing.”
Nonetheless, the Brit stunned the crowd by singing Whitney Houston’s challenging classic ‘I Will Always Love You’.
Jessie J went on to say that the opportunity would “bridge a gap between two cultures”. The British popstar was the first international artist to compete in SINGER.
“For them to see a western performer and hear music some had never heard before and visa versa,” she wrote. “For the performances to be seen by millions outside of China and visa versa. And those people to discover the show was the best part.”
“Seeing the boundaries break down and the rules be shifted made this whole experience incredible,” she added.
