" I’m living this weird Hannah Montana life."

Kelly Marie Tran has said that landing her role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi was the first time her parents supported her.

In a video clip released by People, a presenter reveals that the 28-year-old actress said that “landing the [Star Wars] role was the first time her Vietnamese immigrant parents finally came around to the idea of her being an actress”.

Tran will play Resistance maintenance worker Rose in the upcoming Star Wars” film – a character previously described as “the biggest new part”.

“The past two years have been the craziest years of my entire life,” Tran said in an interview with People.

“I just still can’t believe it’s all happening,” she continued. “I keep having to remind myself that I’m in a movie. I’ll just go to LA Fitness and go to Ralph’s and go to the grocery store — and nobody knows who I am. Then I come to these events and I’m living this weird Hannah Montana life.”

Tran is extremely grateful for her opportunity and said she would appreciate every opportunity. “I would tell myself just to be present and soak in every single moment. It’s such a special experience that you just want to really experience every second of it.”

“So many people want this, and I get to do this!”

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released on 15 December 2017.
