Warcraft star Daniel Wu joins new Tomb Raider movie

Warcraft star Daniel Wu will join the cast of the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot starring Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft.

The Warner Brothers/MGM/GK film was announced recently with a release date of 16 March 2018.

The Hong Kong American actor will take on the role of Lu Ren, a ship captain who helps Lara Croft find her father.

MGM acquired the rights to the Lara Croft video game in 2013 whilst Graham King’s GK Films obtained ‘Tomb Raider’ from Square Enix in 2011.

The ‘Tomb Raider’ video game series dates back to 1996 when the original game was released by London-based Eidos Interactive. In 2013, Square Enix rebooted Lara Croft to make her younger and tougher.

Paramount released two Lara Croft films starring Angelina Jolie in 2001 and 2003, grossing $431 million worldwide collectively.

Wu who stars in Warcraft, also stars in Into The Badlands.
