A statue of anime character Evangelion has been constructed in Shanghai, earning itself a Guinness World Record.

The Evangelion Unit-01 statue holding the Spear of Longinus measures 81.36 feet high and is officially the tallest in the world.

ChinaJoy gaming expo had temporarily hosted the statue last summer but the new re-assembled version has been permanently constructed in Shanghai. Produced by Chinese smartphone game developer heito, the original statue featured the spear next to Evangelion. The new Shanghai construction shows Evangelion holding the spear upright, making it taller.

The statue won a Guinness World Record for being the world’s largest Evangelion. The certificate lists Neon Genesis Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno’s Studio Khara as the statue’s owner with cooperation from Shanghai Character License Administrative Corporation.
