Apple is celebrating Chinese New Year by giving away free Beats Solo3 headphones in its Product (RED) variant.

The offer will be available from 0800 local time on 6 January for only one day and is only valid in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore. Oddly, promotion was also released in Malaysia even though the offer is not eligible in the country.

Furthermore, those eligible for the free Beats headphones must buy select Mac or iPhone products – iMac, the MacBook Pro (minus the new model with Touch Bar), MacBook Air, Mac Pro, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, or iPhone 7 Plus.

The Chinese New Year offer will be available online and in store.

Last year, Apple celebrated Chinese New Year by offering an Apple Watch red colour option. The colour red represents prosperity, hence the decision to go with Product (RED) this time round too for their Beats offer.

Apple’s slogan for the promotion is “New Year. New Beats.”

The computer giants also released a Chinese New Year gift guide that features a range of red and gold products, including a lion dance LionBot kit and a Chinese New Year iPhone 7 case.

Apple has a history of trying to capture the Asian market. As well as Chinese New Year promotions, Apple held various other offers just for Eastern markets. “Red Friday” sales in 2012, 2013 and 2014 offered a range of discounts solely for Asia.
