DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures have just released the first trailer for the upcoming live-action Ghost in the Shell movie.

The film is based on Masamune Shirow’s manga of the same name. The trailer debuted at a live event in Tokyo, Kapan.

Ghost In The Shell centres around cyborg policewoman Major Motoko Kusanagi, played by Scarlett Johansson, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Kusanagi must defeat an enemy whose goal is to destroy Hanka Robotic’s cyber technology.

The Ghost In The Shell live-action movie came under fire for whitewashing after it was announced that Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson would be taking on the starring role of cyborg policewoman Major Motoko Kusanagi. Nonetheless, producer Michael Costigan claimed that the upcoming film was “bringing anime to life”.
