"Not everyone is privileged enough to be able to choose to live vegan"

Kim’s Convenience star Simu Liu has slammed ‘Summer Of 69’ singer Bryan Adams for his racist Coronavirus rant about wet markets.

Yesterday, the Canadian singer posted a clip of him singing his song ‘Cuts Like A Knife’ with a lengthy caption criticising wet markets for the cancellation of his gigs.

“Tonight was supposed to be the beginning of a tenancy of gigs at the @royalalberthall, but thanks to some fucking bat eating, wet market animal selling, virus making greedy bastards, the whole world is now on hold, not to mention the thousands that have suffered or died from this virus,” Adans wrote.

It is widely believed that Covid-19 started at a wet market in Wuhan, China.

Adams’ solution presented to his followers was to take on a vegan diet.

“My message to them other than “thanks a fucking lot” is go vegan,” he wrote in the post.

In response, Liu commented on Bryan’s post informing him how some people rely on wet markets for survival.

“Wet markets are a way of life for literally billions of people around the world,” the Shang-Chi star wrote. “Not everyone is privileged enough to be able to choose to live vegan; there are plenty parts of the world where that kind of diet is just not possible.”

The Chinese Candian actor conceded that wet markets need to develop but urged the 60-year-old singer to not perpetuate hate.

“Is some degree of change needed in many of these wet markets, including the types of meats that SOME of them sell? Absolutely,” Liu wrote. “But please, stop adding to the prejudice and the hate.
Why don’t we contribute to frontline healthcare efforts instead? Why don’t we help deliver meals? Literally anything other than blaming this on an entire race of people.”

Adams has since uploaded a new post featuring him singing ‘Into The Fire’ from the same album as ‘Cuts Like A Knife.’ In the post, Adams apologised for his previous post.

“Apologies to any and all that took offence to my posting yesterday,” Adams wrote. “No excuse, I just wanted to have a rant about the horrible animal cruelty in these wet-markets being the possible source of the virus, and promote veganism. I have love for all people and my thoughts are with everyone dealing with this pandemic around the world.”

In related news, Trump recently tweeted that Asian Americans are “angry at China” after he was accused of racism.

CUTS LIKE A KNIFE. A song by me. Tonight was supposed to be the beginning of a tenancy of gigs at the @royalalberthall, but thanks to some fucking bat eating, wet market animal selling, virus making greedy bastards, the whole world is now on hold, not to mention the thousands that have suffered or died from this virus. My message to them other than “thanks a fucking lot” is go vegan. To all the people missing out on our shows, I wish I could be there more than you know. It’s been great hanging out in isolation with my children and family, but I miss my other family, my band, my crew and my fans. Take care of yourselves and hope we can get the show on the road again soon. I’ll be performing a snippet from each album we were supposed to perform for the next few days.
